Overview

JOB SUMMARY:  The Maintenance Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal functioning and reliability of our extensive fleet of vehicles. This position involves a hands-on approach to the maintenance, repair, and overall management of fleet vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance, an eye for detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of fleet efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance checks and services on fleet vehicles to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.

 

  • Repair Work: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in fleet vehicles, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and other components.

 

  • Inspection and Compliance: Perform thorough inspections of fleet vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

 

  • Vendor Collaboration: Collaborate with key partners and vendors to ensure a steady supply of high-quality parts and services, negotiate cost-effective deals, and maintain strong professional relationships for ongoing fleet maintenance needs.

 

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to other transportation staff and drivers on vehicle maintenance best practices.

 

  • Problem Solving: Quickly identify and resolve unforeseen mechanical issues with fleet vehicles, minimizing downtime.

 

  • Safety Focus: Uphold and advocate for stringent safety standards in all maintenance activities.

 

  • Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Education and experience equivalent to:

 

Education/Certification:

 

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferably, candidates should have a technical diploma or an associate degree in Automotive Technology, Fleet Maintenance, and or a related field.

 

Certifications from recognized bodies like ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) are highly desirable. Specialized certifications in areas such as diesel mechanics, electrical systems, or HVAC systems for vehicles can be particularly beneficial.

 

 

Experience:

 

At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance, specifically with large fleets. Experience with different types of equipment (e.g., tractors, trailers, and material handling equipment) is highly valued.

 

Proven ability in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in modern fleet vehicles.

  • Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations, which may require flexibility in work hours and quick problem-solving capabilities.
